they're crackheads, have a million kids (who regretfully have inherited the "who the hell do you think YOU are, looking at me" attitude), always leave the toys in OUR driveway, and earlier, when my neighbor put up no trespassing signs to keep them out, they started in on her.... so I stepped outside, and without even saying a word they jumped on ME.
childish petty insults, calling me fat and insulting me because I live with my father, so on and so forth, I shot a couple back, myself..... the RFEASON they walk through out driveway and not their own is because they're crackheads.... they look for stuff to steal and sell for more drugs. They've been caught several times looking in our windows, and upstair's balcony. Cops have been called but they say they can't do anything about it, which is bull. Dad has guns but won't teach me how to use them, which is also bull. I have no weapons!! No way to defend myself.
It's gotten pretty bad, actually.... any suggestions on what to do that doesn't involve murder or useless cops?

You've got to love the USA. If you live in the wrong place, the police take your tax money and serve richer, more important people. The first solution is move. You don't need to be where you are now. Obviously, you might need to save some money before you go. Things may or may not be better depending on where you go. If you unwilling to move, dealing with "teh best neighbors evar!" may be a non-monetary cost of living where you are.
Alternatively, if your neighbors are deadbeat losers, you can wait for them to be evicted. This could take a while. (My mother had a string of deadbeat losers living next to her. The current guy is actually employed. Best guy yet. Took five years for him to show up.)

A full security system will cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. Dummy camera are $20~$30 each.
If you want to learn how to use a weapon, you can jump through the hoops to get one. You'll probably want to read a few books on self defense (just because you have a gun does not mean you should use it). You'll probably want to take a couple of self defense courses. My brother did a class with his wife where they got to try out a whole bunch of different guns. The gun people in my life like 9mm models, but many women prefer small guns that can be easily concealed. Many attackers are not determined attackers. They want a victem, not a gun fight. Gun people talk about stopping power- what you need to stop a determined attacker. Decent weapons are expensive (say, ~$1,000 give or take).
That sounds like a really crappy problem. Aside from the solutions that Sgeos suggestions I can't think of any. At least you live in the US which means that acquiring a gun for self defence is at least conceivable. In Canada I'd pretty muc have to be some sort of non-ballistic weapon or martial arts.

@ sgeos *snicker* yeah, right XDXD People already think I'm wacko and nah I'm single.... still, that'd probably be worth doing JUST to see what kinda freaks turn up and go "yo!"
Also, my dad's going to teach me self defense... he was a deputy sherriff for awhile, as well as a firefighter, and now he's been a truck driver for 7 years. Funnily enough the neighbors never give him more than a dirty look.
And as far as guns go.... ehh... I think I'd prefer to find some kind of "prop gun", like my friend has, that LOOKS real enough, even has en ejectable clip, but in fact is fake. People looking for a fight and not to kill someone won't know the difference, unless they're one of those redneck gun fans.

also I find it funny that the guy screaming at us yesterday was reduced to calling my 52 year old neighbor "80", and me "a fat effing 'cee you en tee' " when he's about my size, just taller. XD Ah drugs.... they rot your brain.
